Canon Releases EOS C100 Mark II Cinema EOS Camera

Canon is certainly going to catch the attention of those looking to kickoff 2015 with a new cinema camera body. Expected to start shipping at the end of December is the new Canon EOS C100 Mark II. Designed for video productions such as events, news broadcast, weddings, indie films and commercial use, the EOS C100 Mark II features all new advanced image processing and ergonomic controls. Clean Uncompressed HDMI out, along with 1920 x 1080 / 60p are just a couple enhancements included in the latest release. Another redesign of the C100 Mark II over its predecessor is a 3.5-inch 1.23 hinged megapixel display panel, delivering 100 percent view coverage on the LCD as well as advanced touch screen display features.

But let’s not forget about the elephant in the room when it comes to this hot new item. Current C100 users have already began submitting their negative comments over to Canon in regards to this new release. Some of whom just made the jump to purchase the original C100 ($5,500) only for it’s update release to surface weeks later. It has not been decided on whether or not Canon will offer a trade up program for the older model as of yet, in my opinion if Canon doesn’t want to lose loyal customers they need to do something for them… and fast!

The price point for this camera comes in at around $5,499, a much lower price than the original C100. The C100 has two big brothers in the Canon EOS lineup, one of which (EOS C500) can capture video in 4K. The price point of the C100 mark II makes me believe that Canon wants to get more film makers using their cinema line and at reasonable price. The other reason being that Canon has another camera coming down the pike possibly at the next NAB show in 2015. The next cinema body being the C300 mark II which I assume will have 4K and 1920 x 1080/60p baked right in with no compression to mp4 format.

Canon Releases EOS 7D Mark ii

Quite a few releases from Canon this morning including the long awaited 7D Markii. This body will be the replacement to the 5 year old Canon 7D that was quite a hit to the videographers and sports photographers during that time. In my opinion the overall upgrades to this camera are awesome and I can’t wait to test out the AF system for continuous video recording. The capability to shoot 60 frames at 1080p is also an amazing feature, sorry C100 shooters. What concerns me are two things and why I don’t believe the camera will be a game changer. With a filmers needing to really push out high quality in there film productions these days 4K is soon to be the industry standard. More and more cameras by other competitors are adapting the 4K resolution and making it possible for the average consumer to shoot if it is not necessary. I am not trying to say the 7D Markii will not produce amazing quality; but I do strongly believe that in order for this camera to hold it’s value over the years it should have 4K capability. Secondly the camera is not full frame, not a deal breaker but it would have been nice, even if it did bump up the price a little. I was almost positive we would see Canon upgrading this area of the 7D but it looks like it will still remain at a crop sensor.

Canon focused primarily on sports and wildlife photographers with this model as they did previously, while making sure to keep the videographers smiling with new video features. The 7D Markii is an amazing body and one that I intend adding to my bag once they start shipping in early November.

Rob Adams Films Fall Food Drive

Each night, millions of American children and their families go to sleep hungry and unprepared to face the next day. Our goal is to wipe out hunger in our own backyards with a simple online food drive to which anyone can donate. Please help us keep hungry Americans in our hearts and on our minds not only in the holiday season but all year-round.

Feeding America understands hunger!

Feeding America is the leading domestic hunger relief organization, with network food banks serving every state. Feeding America’s nationwide network of over 200 food banks provides food and groceries to 33,500 food pantries, 4,500 soup kitchens and 3,600 emergency shelters. This extensive network helps feed 37 million Americans each year — delivering over 3 billion pounds of food. Each week nearly 5.7 million people receive emergency food assistance from an agency served by a Feeding America member.

Will you support our virtual food drive today?

Every dollar you give to our virtual food drive helps provide EIGHT meals to people served by the Feeding America network. We hope you’ll agree: by coming together, we can help end hunger in America. Give as much as you can — every bit counts!

Canon 35mm 1.4 ii

For quite some time now Canon has yet to put out an updated version of their 35mm 1.4 USM. As of right now it is said that the mark ii version of this lens is currently in testing but is not known of when it will be seen in the marketplace. This lens will replace the 24mm 1.4. As an a standard lens to have in the bag I am excited about Canon upgrading this already said to be perfect piece of glass and will be for sure renting one out as soon as the announcement is made of the release.

LUMU – Light Meter for iPhone

A very exciting piece equipment was already backed for more than $20,000 today. The LUMU is a light meter that connnects to your iphone and uses it’s own app for  displaying the information from light meter. This is revolutionary for photographers because before the LUMU photographers would have to spend over $300.00 for a light meter that was the size of the iPhone itself and only took batteries. With the LUMU being introduced you will be able to monitor your light source for under $150.00 that plugs into the headphone jack of your iPhone. With the LUMU you will have functionalities that allow you to record settings, make notes & even upload to the cloud all from the app itself. It doesn’t surprise us that this project has already been backed very quickly and will soon be available to customers this year.

If you are interested in getting one of these yourself click the link below and head on over to there Kickstarter page and back the project for a discounted rate of $99.00 to receive a LUMU once they are produced.

CANON // High Megapixel release for Summer

It has been said that Canon will soon be joining the ranks of the high megapixel ranks. This 1 series body is expected to produce between the range of 39MP – 47MP. Some sources have even gone as far to say there might even be a possibility in witnessing a 50+MP sensor. This camera sounds AMAZING but I will stay curious to hear about the frames per second as well as what video shooting capabilities this Megapixel monster will carry onboard.

You can read more details and learn where I heard about this if you are interested from CanonRumors.com
